Let's face it; the struggle is real for young people, especially recent graduates, who are actively seeking employment. Landing a job is not only about making money, it's about finding the right fit; however, young and hungry graduates cannot always afford to take several months to find that right fit.

I can personally say it is not easy to struggle with bills while spending all my spare time looking for that perfect job. I have found that finding your niche and more importantly, finding what activities make you genuinely happy, are the key to finding the right position and getting noticed in the field you want to be noticed in the most. These days, millennials are struggling with the same issues I am in regards to finding that perfect job, but I have yet to hear from a friend or coworker that they were able to land a job using job boards such as Indeed, Monster, Careerbuilder, etc. While these sites are helpful in seeing what is out there, there are many opportunities (with less competition) that are not posted on these sites.

When it comes down to it, it is important to be logical and logically, positions that are posted and made available to anyone with a computer or smart phone are going to have many many applicants and therefore, much more competition and less chance of landing that job. I have found that reaching out to friends and family members about their personal knowledge about hiring companies is more likely to get you a job than applying endlessly to any position you see posted on job boards. I have also found that going old school and getting out the old phone book and calling businesses near you to ask about open positions is more likely to land you a job than blasting out applications online. I have included a helpful link to people like me who are looking for information about getting creative during the job hunt.
